Grok Bot usage limits: how the weekly pool works and how to make it last

Each paid seat on The X Subscription gets one weekly usage pool, shared across Grok and Cursor, and Grok Bot draws from it. When it runs out, you wait for the reset or pay for Additional Usage with top-ups. To make the week last, cut wakes: fewer routines, narrow listeners, fresh chats and shared digests.

How do Grok Bot usage limits work?

Grok Bot has no quota of its own. Each paid seat on The X Subscription gets one weekly pool for eligible first-party usage, shared across Grok and Cursor rather than split into product quotas. Within Grok, x.ai says the pool covers Chat, Imagine, Voice and Bot. Usage rates vary by product, so a Bot run, a chat answer and an image can draw different amounts. The allowance refreshes weekly, and your live usage view shows how much is used and the next reset date. Higher tiers include larger pools. New to Grok Bot? Start with Grok Bot for small business.

How much usage does each plan include?

xAI lists included usage as a multiple, not as a message or token count. Plus at $8 a month is the base, but it does not include Grok Bot. Premium at $30 a month includes 4x, Super at $100 includes 15x and Ultra at $200 includes 50x, per xAI's pricing docs updated October 11, 2026. On self-serve team plans each paid seat has its own weekly pool, and seats do not share pools; the team shares a prepaid balance for extra usage. Check x.ai/pricing before switching; xAI's docs point there for current prices and included usage.

What happens when you hit the Grok Bot usage limit?

You have two choices: wait for the weekly reset, or keep going on paid Additional Usage. Once a seat uses its included weekly usage, further first-party usage is paid from prepaid credit that you buy with top-ups. Auto Top-up is off unless you turn it on. Additional Usage stops when the prepaid balance is empty or the monthly extra-usage cap is reached. Third-party models in Cursor are never in the weekly pool; they bill as Additional Usage from the first use. For the full monthly bill, see what it costs to run AI agents each month.

Is there a spending cap for Grok Bot?

Yes. Several third-party pricing guides in today's search results say Grok Bot has no spend cap, but xAI's own docs, updated October 11, 2026, describe a monthly additional usage limit on individual and self-serve team plans. It is the hard stop on paid extra usage in a calendar month. Two details matter. Spend alerts warn you but do not stop usage, and adding money does not raise the cap, so a balance can sit unused. Manage the cap, prepaid credit and Auto Top-up under Additional usage credits on grok.com/dashboard.

What uses up Grok Bot usage fastest?

Work the Bot does without you watching. xAI's routines guide warns that broad listeners, such as a trigger on every new message, create noise and consume usage, and that a test run performs real work. Bots talking to each other is the other leak: a September 1, 2026 bug report on the Cursor forum describes a review loop between specialist Bots that hit 100% of weekly usage. The independent guide Learn Grok Bot adds that replies cost more in long chats, because the Bot reads the whole conversation again.

Routines that run too often

A routine that checks every few minutes wakes the Bot whether or not anything changed. xAI sets a floor of five minutes between runs and says Grok Bot may ask, after a long period away, whether to keep routines running, pausing them if nobody answers. Start from the least frequent schedule that still delivers the result, and review paused routines when you return.

Bots answering Bots

In a group of Bots, every reply is a separate run. The forum report describes specialist Bots that kept exchanging messages after the owner asked them to stay quiet and report to one lead Bot. Give each Bot one job, one place to report, and a rule that it sends a verdict once instead of replying to every message it sees. See real agent setups you can copy.

How does a business run by a bot crew keep usage down?

DartzDabz runs on one human and a crew of Grok Bots, so we treat usage as a budget. Our crew's org chart, published October 20, 2026, shows seven: a coordinating CEO agent and six specialists. Four changes from our own records, October 20, 2026. Our X post runners stopped checking every 30 minutes and now wake only at five posting times a day. Bots read one shared 7-day digest of the daily scans instead of every scan file. Our routines register, dated October 20, 2026, lists seven routines as paused until we need them. A weekly review runs a no-model script that flags files several Bots keep re-reading. We publish results only after measuring them. To start a crew of your own, use the DartzDabz Crew Builder template. Our routines, approval gates and costs are written up in the DartzDabz playbook.

We may be paid by X based on how many people use our Crew Builder template.

How do you check how much Grok Bot usage is left?

Open Settings and look for Usage and Billing, which shows weekly included usage and on-demand usage for eligible accounts; the account menu can also show weekly usage at a glance. If neither appears, xAI says to check the Cursor account page or ask your organization's admin. Look before you start a big job, such as a long browser task or a new routine, and set the monthly extra-usage cap first if you plan to top up, so a runaway loop cannot spend past it.

What else do people ask?

When does Grok Bot usage reset?

Weekly. Your live usage view in settings shows how much of the pool is used and the exact next reset date for your seat. xAI does not publish one fixed reset day for everyone.

Does Grok Bot have its own usage limit?

No. Grok Bot draws from the same weekly pool as Grok chat, Imagine, Voice and eligible Cursor usage on that seat. It is not a separate pool added on top.

Is Grok Bot included on the $8 Plus plan?

No. Per xAI's pricing docs updated October 11, 2026, Grok Bot is included on Premium ($30 a month), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200), and not on Plus.

Can I set a hard spending limit on Grok Bot?

Yes. Set a monthly additional usage limit under Additional usage credits on grok.com/dashboard. It stops paid extra usage for the month. Spend alerts only warn you; they do not stop usage.

Do third-party models count against the weekly pool?

No. Supported third-party models in Cursor are not part of the weekly pool. They bill as paid Additional Usage from the first use, from your prepaid balance.

Do team seats share one usage pool?

No. On self-serve team plans each paid seat has its own weekly pool, and seats do not share pools. The team does share one prepaid balance for Additional Usage.

How do I make my Grok Bot usage last the week?

Run routines less often, pause ones that produce nothing, use narrow event triggers instead of broad listeners, keep Bots from replying to each other, and start a fresh chat for each new task.
